Research areas
Most of my research and project involvements tackle questions related to IT service management. Recently, we have been focusing on the following topics.
- Extraction of performance and availability models from monitoring data
- Desing for availability and availability-management in Cloud Computing
- Qualitative Fault/Error/Failure modeling and diagnosis in IT infrastructures
Education
I am a co-lecturer of the courses
"Intelligent System Management" (BSc) and
"Autonomic and Dependable Information Systems" (MSc; both in Hungarian). Over the years, I have advised 7 independent project laboratories that were submitted
to the annual faculty conference of scientific student papers:
- 2010, Ágnes Salánki: Platform-level performance management in virtualized environments, I. prize; II. prize at the national competition
- 2008, András Vörös: Integrated System Level Diagnostics, III. prize
- 2008, Gergely János Paljak: Closed loop control of IT infrastructure
- 2008, Imre Malatinszki: Dynamic dependability modeling for supporting system supervision, III. prize
- 2007, Attila Kiss: Generalized modeling and analyzing of error propagation, III. prize
- 2007, Ildikó Váncsa: Construction of a virtualization-based high-availability server
- 2007, István Szombath: Model based evaluation of IT infrastructures
István Szombath and Gergely Paljak also won an IBM Great Minds scholarship (thesis semester absolved at the IBM ZĂźrich Research Center).
Projects
In the last two years, I have been mainly working on industrial (private as well as public) cloud computing management R&D projects.
Earlier I participated in the EU FP6 projects
DESEREC and
RESIST.
